This review is for Ryuji Iwasaki/Blue Buster’s jacket from Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters. This jacket was originally released in 2012 and retailed for 17,485 yen. As of the time of writing, the jacket was still available at Bandai in size M and L.
This jacket has a sleek and tactical style as shown in the show. It’s designed after black operative/special agent attire: dark, non-descript, and clean, with sharp blue accents in some parts of the sleeves and front. The material is 100% polyester inside and out, while the blue triangles by the collar are polyurethane leather.
From a construction standpoint, it’s very well-made and sturdy. Everything is sewn together tightly and nothing feels loose. Heavy duty buttons are on all non-zipper openings.
The zippers for both the body and the arm pocket feel heavy duty and durable. It feels like a military uniform rather than a jacket, which is nice considering the series it’s from. I really like that part of it.
While there’s not much to look at in the front, the back of the jacket and shoulders are what I love most about it. The shoulder pads are a heavy blue fabric that adds some rigidness aesthetically, while do not hinder actual movement. The back of the jacket is easily the coolest part of it in my opinion: The GoBusters logo is embossed wide across the back. Not totally obvious, but enough to show it’s there.
Stealthy is a good way to describe it, reflecting the spy theme of the GoBusters season. There’s also a little slit on the left sleeve to slide the Morphin Brace toy strap through, to make everything seem uniform and cohesive.
In addition, there are four pockets on this jacket, including two on the front, and two on the left arm. This is perfect for cosplayers like myself. While small, they can hold the essentials (ID, money, etc.) with no issues.
To be honest, I really don’t have much of an issue with anything from this jacket. It’s comfortable to wear, and looks visually striking. If I were to pick any complaint about this jacket, it’s the sizing. It only goes up to Bandai size large, and I myself am a bit larger than that. However, once zipped, the jacket still looks great.

All in all, I love this jacket so much. The accuracy to the Busters on the show is spot on, and it feels great to wear. There is definitely a sense of power when you wear it, and you feel like part of a spec ops unit protecting people. I really do feel it’s worth the money. It’s gorgeous. 10/10 would buy again.
